Gentlemen to open Stockholm International Film Festival 2014The long anticipated adaptation of Klas Östergren’s novel Gentlemen, directed by Mikael Marcimain, will be opening this year’s Stockholm International Film Festival. The film is a contestant in the prestigious “Stockholm XXV Competition” section, and is nominated for the 7,3 kilo (15 lbs) “best film” Bronze Horse Award. The cast features David Dencik, David Fukamachi Regnfors, Ruth Vega Fernandez and Sverrir Gudnason. Gentlemen is directed by Mikael Marcimain, whose previous works include the critically lauded Call Girl and the television series Upp till kamp and Lasermannen. The script is by Klas Östergren and based on his celebrated cult status novel with the same name. Gentlemen premieres in European cinemas during the festival, and has also been selected for the Toronto International Film Festival, in September. - It is a great honor to once again open the Stockholm Film Festival. Gentlemen evokes a city and a time that starkly contrasts today’s society. It’s an unpolished epic, an adventure in a no longer existing era, says director Mikael Marcimain. Mikael Marcimain’s recent feature Call Girl opened the festival in 2012, and Marcimain has previously been a Bronze Horse Jury member. Gentlemen is produced by B-Reel, Fredrik Heinig, Johannes Åhlund and Mattias Norhborg, with aid from Svenska Filminstitutet, film consultant Lars G Lindström, Norsk Filminstitutt, Nordisk Film & TV Fond, with Sveriges Television, AB Svensk Filmindustri, Film i Skåne, Film i Väst, 4 ½ Film, Reel Ventures, in cooperation with Chimney and Wild Bunch. The film is set to premiere in cinemas across Sweden December 5, and is distributed by AB Svensk Filmindustri.
