5th edition Go Short about to start
Only two days until Nijmegen turns into the Dutch capital of short film. Go Short – International Short Film Festival Nijmegen is ready to take off. Go Short received 2246 entries from which only 92 screen in three competitions. A fierce battle with its grand finale at the Go Short Awards.
Premieres The upcoming edition has its fair share of premieres. From the 300 shorts that are shown no less than 54 are shown for the very first time on Dutch soil. Go Short has 5 World Premieres to celebrate. One of these 5 is Robin Färdig’s When I Can’t Sleep I Talk to the Night Watch. Färdig is a Swedish director who has a special connection to Go Short. For the third consecutive he has a short film screening at Go Short. It is his second world premiere at Go Short. Go Robin!
Prize winning shorts: Oscar and BAFTA winners at Go Short On the other side of the festival cycle are those shorts who have already won numerous prizes. Most striking at this year’s festival are Academy Award winner Curfew and Paperman and BAFTA winner The Making of LongBird.
Oscar Shorts is a program containing this year’s winners of the prestigious Academy Awards together with all the runner-up’s. Curfew defeated a strong field of rivals and went home with the Academy Award for best Live Action Short Film 2013. Paperman took the animation competition by storm and won the Academy Award for Animated Short Film. But isn’t being nominated a prize on its own? Together with ShortsTV, Go Short is excited to show these fine shorts from all over the world!
The British counterpart to the Oscars are the equally prestigious BAFTA Awards. Will Anderson’s astonishing animated short The Making of Longbird went home with one of this year’s BAFTA Awards. At Go Short’s International Hightlights Anderson is screened together with the also BAFTA nominated Death of a Shadow and Fresh Guacamole. This program consists of a selection of noteworthy shorts that caught the eye of the Go Short programmers during their visits to film festivals all around Europe.
