23rd Philadelphia Film Festival Full Film Line-Up

 Over 100 films from 28 countries to screen during 11-day event, which runs from Thursday, October 16 - Sunday, October 26, 2014

The Philadelphia Film Society is proud to announce the full film line-up of the 23rd Philadelphia Film Festival, spanning from October 16 - October 26 on 6 theater screens throughout the Greater Philadelphia area.

 

Opening on Thursday, October 16th with Birdman, Alejandro González Iñárritu's much anticipated new feature starring Michael Keaton, Edward Norton, Naomi Watts and Emma Stone. The event's Closing Night Celebration will take place on Friday, October 24th with Wild, Jean-Marc Vallée's critical hit out of the 2014 Toronto Film Festival starring Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern and Gabby Hoffman. The festival will continue through the weekend, wrapping up with second screenings of Jury Competition films and festival favorites on Sunday, October 26th.   

  

The 11-day Philadelphia Film Festival will locally premiere over 100 feature length and short films, curated by our programming committee that travels to festivals around the world, all year long, to officially select each film in the program.

 

"I'm thrilled to announce another fantastic line-up of films for the 2014 Philadelphia Film Festival, our 23rd edition," said Executive Director J. Andrew Greenblatt. "Beginning with our Opening Night screening of the highly acclaimed Birdman through October 26th, our diverse collection of films, everything from prestigious world cinema hits to exciting new American indies will entertain, challenge and truly highlight some of the best cinema of the year."

 

"I'm really happy to watch this year's festival come to life," said Artistic Director, Michael Lerman. "I think we're really on the verge of some big years for cinema and this festival will showcase the first steps in these innovative new directions."

Screenings for the 23rd Philadelphia Film Festival will take place at the Ritz East (125 S. 2nd St, Philadelphia, PA 19106), Ritz at the Bourse (400 Ranstead St, Philadelphia, PA 19106), Perelman Theater at the Kimmel Center (300 S Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19102), PFS Roxy Theater (2023 Sansom Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103), and Prince Music Theater (1412 Chestnut St, Philadelphia, PA 19102). Tickets will go on-sale for Philadelphia Film Society members on Friday, September 26, and to the general public beginning Tuesday, September 30th.  Tickets may be purchased through the Festival website, www.filmadelphia.org/festival, or in-person at the Main Box Office in the PFS Roxy Theater.
