Maison des scenaristes in Cannes, feedback

- More than 100 visitors a day at our International Screenwriters’ Pavilion at the Marche du Film.
- 46 Selected Scriptwriters met 60 Producers from all over the world who came to listen to their projects.
- 3 Round Table Talks on professional concerns, sparking passionate debates.
- 2 directors gave a Franco-American Masterclass to a highly responsive public.
The events held by the MdS at its pavilion at the Marche International du Film during the Cannes Filmfest drew scriptwriters, producers, distributors directors from around the world concerned with the impact of writing in the creative production process.

Our 4 Writer-Producer Morning Meetings for Feature Film Projects or From Short to Long Film Projects drew producers and distributors from France, the UK, Belgium, Switzerland, Croatia, the USA, Quebec, India and Morocco.

Our Round Table Talks and the Masterclass at the Pavilion were booked solid! Topics included:
- “The Scriptwriter : Creativity vs. the Marketplace” May 20th in partnership with Region Ile-de-France at the Plage de la Quinzaine des Realisateurs with Luc JABON (SACD, Belgium), Stephane GUENIN, (producer, President of AFPF), Bob SWAIM (Franco-American writer, director and producer, Director of Eicar), Georges RUQUET (writer, director, trainer at INA and at Luc Besson’s Ecole de la Cite) Jacqueline SURCHAT, (Franco-Swiss writer, in charge of the Scriptwriting division at « Association Focal » in Switzerland).

- “What Makes a Project International ?” May 21st with Marten RABARTS (Head of Development at NFDC, India), Gareth WILEY (producer of Woody Allen’s Vicky Christina Barcelona, Match Point and Scoop, among others), Bob SWAIM and Huck MELNICK (writer-director).

- “The Invasion of Operas and Concert Screenings in Cinema Theatres” May 22nd with Fabienne HANCLOT (ACID’s Director General), Celine DAVID (of CNC’s Finance and Law Department), Bruno DANIAULT, (producer and AFPF’s Director General), Laurent HEBERT (CST de l’image et du son), Francis FOURNEAU, (Theater Exhibitor, CVL Palace), Pascal PRIVET (Rencontres cinematographiques de Manosque) and Dominique DATTOLA (SNAC).

- Franco-American Masterclass with Bob SWAIM and Yves AMOUREUX (writer-directors) exchanging their views on screenwriting and its place in the production process in France and in the US.
The organizers of the Maison des Scenaristes wish to express their thanks to the 46 selected authors who came from France, the USA, Quebec, the UK, Switzerland, Belgium and to the 60 producers who came to meet them and to immerse themselves in the stories selected from the 360 projects we received.
