Edge signs Cannes buzz title The VillainessEdge Entertainment is proud to present the high profile acquisition of this year’s Cannes Midnight success entry The Villainess. Additionally, Edge Entertainment has picked up the Australian success Red Dog: True Blue. The Villainess by Jung Byung-gil had its world premiere in the Cannes Official Midnight Selection; where Edge’s previous acquisition Train to Busan world premiered in 2016. Byung-gil’s The Villainess is a captivating revenge thriller, which premieres throughout Asia in June followed by the USA and then worldwide. Edge Entertainment has acquired all rights throughout Scandinavia, Iceland and the Baltics from Contents Panda. “We are thrilled to have acquired the Cannes Midnight title of 2017, The Villainess, and to present it to audiences across Scandinavia and the Baltics”, says Ignas Scheynius, Chairman of the Board, Edge Entertainment. The Villainess is about Sook-hee, a trained assassin for the National Intelligence Service. After refusing a confidential mission she assumes a new identity. She meets a man and falls in love. However, on the day of their wedding, she is assigned a new mission that changes everything. Ultimately, she must seek revenge on the men who murdered her husband. Red Dog: True Blue is Kriv Stender's prequel to his own Red Dog from 2011. Like its predecessor True Blue has been an major success in Australia. Red Dog: True Blue premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and went on to screen in Berlin. Edge Entertainment has acquired all rights throughout Scandinavia, Iceland and the Baltics from Myriad Entertainment. Red Dog: True Blue is a story about Mick who lives with his grandfather on an Australian farm. He finds a puppy drenched in blue paint, and names him ‘Blue’. From this moment, the two of them are inseparable. But when Mick falls in love for the first time, things become turbulent for both.
