Pixar Outdoes Itself With Inside Out Premiere

Pixar Outdoes Itself With Inside Out Premiere

On Monday, May 18th, Cannes Film Festival celebrated Animation Day to show off the talents and logistics of all things animation. The premiere movie at the Grand Lumiere Theatre was Inside Out, Disney-Pixar's new film about all of these emotions we have in our head like joy, anger, fear, sadness and disgust. It travels into the mind of a young girl named Riley, and portrays each emotion as their own person. Anger naturally shoots fire out of his head, and sadness and always blue. Per usual, Pixar found a way to relate to younger children while still giving the adults surprising humor and relation to the film.

Taking on a task such as entering the metaphysical realm of the mind is not an easy one, but the team at Pixar found a way to bring us into that world without being overbearing or too much to handle. When Riley is uprooted from her hometown in Minnesota and moves to San Francisco with her parents, the emotions are in charge of keeping equillibrium during the transition. Joy, the most important emotion of all gets lost in the mind, along with sadness, and they have to find their way back to headquarters before Riley can no longer feel anything.

Through relatable jokes for the children, and relatable feelings for the adults, Inside Out is able to deliver something to every viewer and it is expected to soar in the box office. The last movie Pixar premiered at Cannes was Up in 2009 and to this day it is still considered a Pixar staple, which leads to believe Inside Out is on it's way to being a well remembered classic.
