Principal photography has begun on THE CHAPERONE.The film has been adapted by Academy Award®-winner Julian Fellowes (Gosford Park, Downton Abbey) and is based on Laura Moriarty’s best-selling novel of the same name. Directed by multiple Emmy® and DGA-nominated Michael Engler (Downton Abbey), THE CHAPERONE stars Academy Award®-nominated Actress Elizabeth McGovern (Downton Abbey). McGovern, who is also a producer, optioned the novel and worked with Fellowes to adapt it for the big screen.
The film is based on Laura Moriarty’s best-selling American novel about a woman (McGovern) whose life is changed forever when she chaperones a young and soon to be famous Louise Brooks (Haley Lu Richardson) to New York.
Joining McGovern in THE CHAPERONE are fellow cast members: Haley Lu Richardson (Split, The Edge of Seventeen), Victoria Hill (December Boys, First Reformed), Campbell Scott (House of Cards, Damages), Geza Rohrig (Son of Saul), Blythe Danner (Gypsy, Madoff) and Miranda Otto (The Lord of The Rings, Homeland).
PBS, MASTERPIECE and Fibonacci Films in association with Rose Pictures, Hamilton Entertainment and Anonymous Content are producing the film with Arclight Films handling International Sales.
The producers on the project are Victoria Hill, Greg Clark, Luca Scalisi, Rose Ganguzza, Kelly Carmichael, Elizabeth McGovern and Gary Hamilton.
Executive Producers include Rebecca Eaton, Andrew Mann, Ying Ye, Mike Gabrawy, Ruzanna Keyegan, Simon Curtis, Eli Selden, Adam Shulman and Julian Fellowes.
PBS Distribution is planning a theatrical release of THE CHAPERONE in the United States in 2018 concurrently with distributors in the international marketplace represented by Arclight Films. This is the first feature film from MASTERPIECE.
THE CHAPERONE is Arclight Films and Fibonacci Films second collaboration, the first being the Paul Schrader film First Reformed that will world premiere in competition at the upcoming Venice Film Festival. 04.08.2017 | Bruno's blog Cat. : FILM
