EFM'16: K-SHop for UKK-SHOPthe Sweeney Todd inspired kebab shop elevated horror is set to be released in July by Bulldog Film Distributors and sold worldwide by EMPRESS ROAD PICTURES.
A debut for writer and director DAN PRINGLE the controversial film sees binge drinking culture clash with a vigilante kebab shop owner played by ZIAD ABAZA.
Produced by White Lantern Film and shot entirely in UK, the Sweeney Todd inspired horror/thriller follows the story of a kebab shop owner's son who turns vigilante butcher after his father is killed by lawless yobs on a night out. The film paint's an accurate picture of Britain's binge drinking culture by uniquely integrating scenes of genuine night life with the film's visceral narrative and looks set to shock audiences later this year.
UK newcomer Ziad Abaza leads a recognisable cast including Darren Morfitt (Dog Soldiers, Doomsday) Scot Williams (The Crew), Reece Noi (Game of Thrones), Harry Reid (Eastenders) and Ewen MacIntosh (The Office, Lobster). ABAZA having been a part of Sam Mendes' latest Bond outing Spectre, he recently aired as Ismael in acclaimed Fox TV series Tyrant.
Genre specialists Empress Road Pictures are handling K-Shop's international sales and will be representing the film at this year's European Film Market at the Berlin International Film Festival.
