Berlinale 2014 Bites and previewsDarren Aronofsky to be jury president American director, screenwriter and producer Darren Aronofsky will head the jury of the 65th Berlin International Film Festival. Homage and Honorary Golden Bear The 2015 Homage is dedicated to filmmaker, photographer and author Wim Wenders, who will receive the Honorary Golden Bear for his life achievement. Retrospective “Glorious Technicolor. From George Eastman House and Beyond” The century-old colour film process Technicolor is the focus of the 2015 Retrospective. Approximately 30 spectacular films, some of which have been painstakingly restored, make up the programme, including The Three Musketeers (R: George Sidney, USA 1948), The Wizard of Oz (R: Victor Fleming, USA 1939) and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (R: Howard Hawks, USA 1953).
World Cinema Fund: 10 year anniversary and new special programme The World Cinema Fund looks back on 10 successful years. Berlinale Talents - a new motto and guest expert Howard Shore “2015: A Space Discovery” is the motto for the 13th edition of Berlinale Talents. 300 selected film professionals from upcoming generations are invited to discover new ways of looking at cinematic space in around 100 discussion events and workshops. The fourth “Made in Germany - Perspektive Fellowship” will be awarded in cooperation with watchmaker Glashütte Original to a directing talent from the festival section Perspektive Deutsches Kino on January 19, 2015. A new jury for “FGYO Award - Dialogue en perspective” Under the guidance of jury head Marie Bäumer, and together with the Franco-German Youth office (FGYO), seven young cineastes from Germany and France will select their favourite from the festival section Perspektive Deutsches Kino to receive the 5,000 € award. The award ceremony will take place during the independent jury awards on February 14, 2015.
In 2015, Generation will once again include the Berlinale School Project: 50 primary and secondary school teachers from Berlin have the chance to view the Generation films prior to the festival and later integrate their film selection in their instruction.
The festival programme for the 65th Berlinale Curation screenings for the 65th Berlin International Film Festival are in full swing. Starting on January 27, 2015, the complete programme including dates will be available at www.berlinale.de. Until then, we’ll report successively on programme decisions.
