13 Dutch Films in Berlinale

 


The Netherlands claims a strong presence at this year’s Berlinale Film Festival with four Dutch features, two Dutch feature length documentaries, two shorts and five minority Dutch films.

The animated Dutch documentary The Last Hijack by Femke Wolting and Tommy Pallotta (producer: Submarine, coproducer: Still Films (IE), Razor Film (DE), Savage Film (BE) screens in Panorama.
 
In Forum is 40 Days Of Silence by Saodat Ismailova (Dutch producer: Volya Films, coproducers: Petit Film (FR) and Rohfilm (De).

Dutch youth film A Christmoose Story by Lourens Blok (producer: Lemming Film, coproducers: Svensk Filmindustri (SE), Davaj Film (SE) and Anchorage Entertainment (BE) is selected in the youth film programme Generation Kplus. Also selected for Generation Kplus is Finn by Frans Weisz (producer: Flinck Film, coproducer: Eyeworks (BE).  
 
Selected in the Generation 14plus is Supernova by Tamar van den Dop (producer: Revolver Amsterdam with IJswater Films, coproducers: Coin Film (DE) and Epidemic (BE) and the 3D arthouse film Above Us All by Eugenie Jansen (producer: De Productie, coproducer: Minds Meet (BE) which receives a special screening.
 
The short debut Even Cowboys Get To Cry by Mees Peijnenburg is also selected for Generation 14plus while the short film Marc Jacobs by Sam de Jong (producer: 100% Halal Productions) is selected in the Official Shorts Competition.

Forum Expanded is screening Inferno by Yael Bartana (production: My-i Productions).
 
Minority Dutch films
The Dutch minority coproduction The Third Side Of The River by Celine Murga (producer: Tresmilmundos Cine (AR), coproducers: Waterland Film (NL), Rommel Film (DE) and Martin Scorsese) is selected for Berlinale Official Competition.
 
In Forum is Flemish/Dutch documentary N- The Madness Of Reason by Peter Krüger (producer: Inti Films (BE), Dutch coproducer: DiepteScherpte).

Blind by Eskil Vogt, a Norwegian/Dutch coproduction between Motlys and Dutch production house Lemming Film will screen in Panorama.
 
Selected for Generation 14plus is Violet by Flemish director Bas Devos (producer: Minds Meet (BE), Dutch coproducer: Phanta Vision Film in coproduction with Artemis Productions (Belgium).

The Blue Wave by Merve Kayan and Zaynep Dadak (producer: Family Affair Films, Bulut Film (TR) Riva Film (DE) and Two Thirty Five (GR).

The Netherlands Film Fund presents co-production opportunities with the Netherlands during the Countries-in-Focus Session of he BERLINALE CO-PRODUCTION MARKET February 9th  
 
Actor Marwan Kenzari is the Dutch SHOOTING STAR.
 
Director Boudewijn Koole (Kauwboy) is member of the international jury of GENERATION KPLUS.
 
My Father’s Garden by Ben Sombogaart (production: NL Film) is selected for the BERLINALE CO-PRODUCTION MARKET.
 
Dutch novel Melanie by Carel Donck (publisher: De Arbeiderspers) is selected into BOOKS IN BERLINALE to be presented and pitched during the BERLINALE CO-PRODUCTION MARKET.
 
The Berlin Independent Film Festival, selected Dutch feature Silent Ones by Ricky Rijneke (production: Rotterdam Films).
