Sims believes in Surprise

Century City-based Devin International attends its first AFM with a line up of four features and news on the acquisition of German director Veit Helmer's award-winning and hand-coloured short, Surprise.

The acquisition of the short came with the intentions and hopes of packaging shorts with features for both the international and domestic marketplaces. Devin president Greg Sims said to be "so enamored with the content and humour of Surprise that we all felt that it would marry well with our intentions of highlighting not only up and coming stars, but up and coming directors."

Headed by Sims, Devin is most noted for kicking off its international presence with the horror hit The Fear which premiered at last year's Mifed and has already been sold to the Benelux, Mexico, Australia and New Zealand, the Philippines and Portugal.

Heading Devin's AFM line-up are Gavin Wilding's Listen, starring Brooke Langton, Sarah Buxton and Gordon Currie, and The Bet. To be directed by Mark Lison, and scheduled for an early spring production,The Bet tells the story of two best friends who fall in love with the same woman.

Finally, The Fear 2 is also part of the company's roster of features for AFM. To be written and directed by Bobby Crawford, "it will utilise morphing technologies that will take the lead character to the next level."
